Introducing NewsPro

Mobile-friendly web portal to access the real-time wire from The Canadian Press

We are now rolling out our NewsPro web portal to clients so they can easily search, filter and view real-time CP and AP text, and TV transcripts across their subscribed categories. Plus, you can look forward to NEW benefits:

  • Save time by sharing search topics with all users in your company.
  • Set daily digests for search topics that don't require real-time alerts.
  • Upgrade to our new Live Calendar product, providing events and CP coverage plans up to 12 months ahead.

Home Page

  • NewsPro provides access to your subscribed wire categories, but the home page showcases a few of the latest stories from our Politics category, in English and French.
  • You can "Personalize Homepage" and display the latest stories from up to six of your selected search topics.

Keyword Search and Advanced Search

  • Type keywords in the search bar at the top of the page and click the magnify glass button to search for relevant content.
  • ADVANCED SEARCH is similar to the Google search where you input terms into "Any of these", "All of these" and "None of these" fields. You can also search within specific fields like Headline and/or Body.
  • Use quotation marks for an exact phrase search.
  • Use an asterisk (*) for a wildcard search.
  • You can use standard operators (AND, OR, NOT).

Expand Filter Panel

  • On the left-hand menu bar, when you are in the Wire section, you can expand the Filter panel by clicking on the hamburger menu to the left of the search bar.
  • The Filter panel will reveal options for narrowing down what content you want displayed.

Filter by Topics

  • In the Filter panel, the "Topics" tab lists your subscribed categories in alphabetical order.
  • Clicking on a specific category such as Business will refresh the content to only display stories in the Business category.
  • Clicking "All" will display stories across all your subscribed categories.

Filters for Source, Date and Other Options

  • Clicking on the "Filters" tab will show the option to checkmark boxes for certain Sources (e.g. The Associated Press, The Canadian Press, La Presse Canadienne) to be displayed.
  • The bottom of the "Filters tab" also provides options to display content published during your specified date range.

Refresh to Load New Content

  • In the top right corner, you may notice a pink circle appear with a number inside.
  • Click on this and your NewsPro account refreshes to load in new wire content.

Save, Share or Copy

When viewing the list of stories, you can:

  • Share the story with other users in your organization.
  • Add the story to your Bookmarks section accessed via the left-hand menu.
  • Copy or Download the story to your computer.

Create Search Topics

  • In the top right corner, you may notice a pink circle appear with a number inside.
  • Click on this and your NewsPro account refreshes to load in new wire content.
